Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the compliance and documentation for new hires, ensuring all required paperwork, background screenings, and pre-employment testing are completed in collaboration with Talent Acquisition.
  • Ownership of ongoing compliance tracking and administration for all staff, ensuring adherence to federal, state and local regulations.
  • Maintain and audit HRIS systems to ensure accurate data management
  • Maintain and audit driving records and documentation for employee driver eligibility.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for employee relations, including addressing complaints, moderating mediations, overseeing development plans, and managing terminations.
  • Lead investigations related to employee concerns or grievances, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
  • Guide employees through the leave of absence processes, managing the filing, tracking and return-to-work procedures.
  • Provide open-door support to employees, offering guidance on performance improvement and career development opportunities.
  • Serve as the go-to knowledge expert, advising the management team with compliance on federal, state, and local unemployment laws, recommending best practices for HR operations.
  • Conduct stay and exit interviews, compile trending data, and communicate finding leadership to inform retention strategies.
  • Partner with the HR Manager to develop and implement policies and training programs that align with business needs and organizational values.
  • Administer and track FMLA, PFL, and leave of absence programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Handle worker’s compensation claims and assist in managing the associated processes, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Support OSHA compliance and tracking, ensuring the organization meets all safety regulations.
  • Assist with various HR-related projects and other duties as assigned, providing support across the department.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, psychology, business administration, or a related field (or college degree in progress with 4+ relevant work experience)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an HR Generalist with a degree
  • 2+ years of onboarding and training experience
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience with FMLA, PFL, and Leave of Absence administration
  • Employee relations experience includes handling complaints, investigations, terminations and corrective action oversight.
  • Understanding of benefit enrollment and tracking.
  • 2+ years of onboarding and training experience required; developing training materials and communications preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to pass a DMV abstract screening is required.
  • Experience in a school, educational, or residential settings (specifically with children, such as an autism-focused or special education environment is a plus).
  • HRIS (Human Resources Information System) proficiency.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, guidelines, and regulations
  • Knowledge of or experience working in therapeutic and residential settings for children with autism or other developmental disabilities.
  • Due to the nature of work in supporting our students, all job description list the physical requirements for that position
  • Our campus consists of some paved areas but primarily consists of grass, gravel paths and parking lots. Additionally, many areas of our building are fully accessible, however, as a historic building some areas are only accessible by stairs.
  • You must be able to ambulate around the campus, including hills, stairs, grass and gravel.
