Essential Functions: 
The Development Coach Supervisor is a year-round position reporting to the Staff Development Manager. The Development Coach Supervisor will work in strong collaboration with other members of the Staff Development department to stay current with the evolution of Therapeutic Interventions and ensure effective staff development. The Development Coach Supervisor is an expert in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS), the writing of Incident Reports (IRs), and a facilitator in the Staff Debriefing process. The Development Coach Supervisor will provide real-time direct oversight to Development Coaches in guiding staff through preventative/de-escalation strategies and physical intervention to ensure proper execution across campus. The Development Coach Supervisor provides real-time feedback to coaches in the facilitation of the de-briefing process for staff. Coordinate the overnight direct care needs of DSP and 1:1 staff to ensure proper care for each student.  
  • Serves as the leader in crisis intervention across all departments and cohorts of students.
  • Provides real-time coaching/feedback/support to all staff and students during escalated situations.
  • Guides staff through the proper use of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS)
  • Facilitate de-briefing sessions with staff after a crisis situation; allows time and a safe, confidential space for staff to process and learn from the crisis situation.
  • Collaborates with the Staff Development Manager
  • Make recommendations for the consistent implementation of TCIS across the campus
  • Ensures TCIS training tracking and compliance are up to date
  • Remain current on new learning and other industry approaches to remain at the forefront of adult learning theory in crisis intervention
  • Remains current with TCIS training refreshers, recertification, and policy/procedure updates
  • Manages the Development Coach Schedule
  • Provides weekly reflective supervision to Development Coaches
  • Provides real-time coaching and direct supervision to Development Coaches, including documenting corrective measures and creating development plans as necessary.

Requirements: 
Experience & Education: 

• Minimum 3 years of work experience in a high-volume/demanding customer service or human service position required
• Experience working with neurodivergent adolescents and young adults required
• Experience managing, supervising, mentoring, and developing staff, with a focus on staff development and performance management, is required
• Crisis management and de-escalation experience required
• Experience handling aggressive behaviors and challenging client behaviors is required
• Customer service experience required
• Experience assisting with hygiene and personal care activities is required
• EMT/EMS, CNA/HHA/PCA, or similar experience preferred
• Experience working with adolescents and young adults with autism in a residential or school setting is required
• Experience coordinating, scheduling, and overseeing staff shifts required
• Associate’s degree in human services or a related field required
• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
• Experience in a supervisory or management position preferred
• Previously trained in crisis intervention, including TCI/SCIP, or similar techniques preferred
• Experience using Microsoft 365 suite applications preferred
• Ability to mentor, coach, and support staff in their professional growth is required
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities required
• Experience working in a therapeutic or clinical environment preferred
• Experience conducting interviews is a plus
• A bachelor’s degree in special education, clinical domain (mental health, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, physical therapy, etc.), human services, or related field is required, though we will consider a mix of ongoing education and experience for the right candidate
• 2 years’ experience working with autistic individuals in a residential setting is required. 4+ years is preferred
• 2 years’ experience utilizing crisis management systems (CPI, SCIP-R, TCI, etc.) is required. Experience as a crisis trainer is preferred
• 2 years’ experience in coaching others in 1:1 and in small or large group settings to provide positive and constructive feedback to staff is required. 2+ years providing coaching as described and having direct managerial oversight of staff is preferred

• Ability to complete and maintain required TCIS and other training certifications, staying up to date with best practices
• Ability to mentor and develop staff, providing guidance and ongoing professional development
• Knowledge and experience with crisis prevention, intervention strategies, and behavior intervention plans to ensure a safe environment
• Strong organizational skills for managing staff scheduling, incident documentation, and maintaining accurate records
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software tools for documentation, communication, and scheduling
• Ability to maintain confidentiality while multitasking and managing sensitive information
• Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams, and flexibility for evening and weekend shifts
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide, motivate, and hold staff accountable while fostering a positive work culture
• Ability to assess and respond to emergencies swiftly and appropriately, ensuring the safety of all students and staff
• Knowledge of and experience with special education or autism-specific educational practices, particularly in a residential setting
• Cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse needs of students, families, and staff
• Flexibility and creativity in adapting programs and support strategies to meet individual student needs
• High emotional intelligence and exceptional communications skills (both oral and written) to read, understand, and engage a wide range of learners at all levels of the organization

• Experience evaluating learning programs and materials to ensure learner needs are met

Physical Requirements/Demands: 
A workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines and time pressures; work regularly requires sustained concentration. Standing for sustained periods of time, bending, stretching, walking up and down stairs (building has 6 floors), around a hilly campus as needed, may also require walking between floors or between buildings at a moment’s notice. May need to lift/move boxes up to 25 pounds and move or rearrange furniture. 
 
Work Environment: 
We are a boarding school located on a 127-acre campus. The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor spaces, mostly inside the classroom or educational environment. May include work within the residential setting. The building has 6 floors accessible by staircases and elevators.
