Position Summary:
The Human Resources department is at the heart of Shrub Oak International School, providing internal customer service to all staff at all levels so they can focus on providing exceptional care to our students. We are innovative, caring, and fast moving. We work hand in hand with Finance, Department Managers and Talent Acquisition. Essential Functions – Primary duties of the position
ONBOARDING & TRAINING
- Develop, facilitate and track new hires from offer letter acceptance through Orientation. Coordinating with Staff Development as owner of communications for all onboarding.
- Assist TA in preparation and presentation at Job Fairs.
- Ownership of compliance of all requirements and documentation of new hires.
- Oversee the processing of all employment paperwork to include applicable background screening and pre-employment testing in conjunction with Talent Acquisition.
- Ownership of ongoing compliance tracking and administration for all staff.
- Manages HR annual required training tracking and department updates/liaison on needs.
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
- Presenting/training on standard school policies during Onboarding. Must be comfortable presenting and managing small to large groups of new hires for Onboarding.
- Direct employees on leave of absence processes, overseeing the filing, tracking and return-to-work process.
- Provide an open-door to employees for requests and assist them on who can best answer any questions as applicable. Be the bridge between the staff and the company.
HR ADMINISTRATION
- HRIS system maintenance and auditing.
- WC incident report review, submission, file tracking and liaison with our carrier under the oversight of the HR Generalist.
- Assist with HR Staff Reporting as needed, moving towards task ownership.
- General administrative and filing.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned. This is designed to be a growth role towards a Generalist.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- BA in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration or related field is preferred. College degree in progress with relevant work experience in described tasks is required.
- Minimum of 2 years administrative experience is required. Experience in an educational or residential setting similar to Shrub Oak of directly in HR is preferred.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local laws is preferred.
- MS Office Suite (Word/Excel) is required, advanced skills including PowerPoint is preferred.
- 2+ years experience in customer service (internal or external) is required. Direct HR services experience is preferred.
- Employee relations and/or staff management experience is preferred.
- Worker’s Comp administration experience is preferred.
- FMLA, PFL and LOA administration experience is preferred.
- OSHA compliance and tracking experience is preferred.
Work Environment
The work is primarily indoors with a mix of desk/computer, training classes, occasional travel to assist with Job Fairs or other approved recruiting events.
Physical Demands
The position is a mix of sitting for extended periods of time while at a desk/computer, and standing or walking for extended periods of time while training, giving-tours, or recruiting. Must have the ability to lift at least 30 lbs for movement of training/onboarding/recruiting materials and set-up as well as break-down.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time 12 mos/year-round position. Days and hours of work Monday through Friday 9a to 5pm with the ability to flex with managerial approval. Evening and weekend work may be required, as job duties demand but should be minimal.
Local Travel required as necessary for recruiting or training.
