Essential Functions:
The Carpenter's Assistant will work under the direction of a Lead Carpenter, assisting with various carpentry tasks. Responsibilities include gathering and transporting materials, cleaning work areas and equipment, measuring and cutting materials, and positioning tools and equipment as needed.
Assist in installing walls, floors, and ceilings using materials such as wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composite materials.
Aid in installing window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, and both interior and exterior trim.
Help erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures at elevated levels.
Accurately read and take measurements for carpentry projects.
Operate carpenter hand tools, machines, and power equipment as directed.
Assist in building or repairing cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, and other wood fixtures using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.
Assemble and fasten materials to create frameworks or props using hand tools, wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
Remove damaged or defective parts of structures and assist with repairs or replacements using hand tools.
Inspect ceiling or floor tiles, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork for damage and defects.
Move materials around the job site as needed.
Cleanup worksite debris to maintain a safe and organized environment.

Physical Requirements/Demands:
A workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines, and time pressures; work regularly requires sustained concentration. Standing for sustained periods of time, bending, stretching, walking up and down stairs (building has 6 floors), around a hilly campus as needed, may also require walking between floors or between buildings at a moment’s notice. May need to lift/move boxes up to 25 pounds and move or rearrange furniture.
Work Environment:
We are a boarding school located on a 127-acre campus. The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor spaces, mostly inside the classroom or educational environment. May include work within the residential setting. The building has 6 floors accessible by staircases and elevators.
