Essential Functions:
Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, parents, and visitors at Shrub Oak International School, as well as protecting the school's assets. This hands-on role involves patrolling the campus, monitoring premises through direct observation and CCTV, and exercising discretion when handling confidential information.
Perform daily security duties as assigned.
Respond to safety and emergency situations.
Participate in security and safety-related training and drills.
Implement emergency response and business continuity plans as needed.
Document incidents related to physical security, potential facility liability, or other occurrences requiring reporting according to policy.
Provide high-quality customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
Prepare detailed and accurate reports on security-related incidents.

Requirements:
Experience & Education:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent required
Valid NYS Security Guard license or in the process of obtaining one*
Experience working as a security guard or in a similar position, i.e., a Sworn Law Enforcement, military or security officer is preferred.
NYS Security Guard License or completion of the 8-hour pre-employment class
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to quickly respond to high-urgency situations at a moment’s notice.
Knowledge of security methods and techniques, including loss prevention, crime prevention, investigation, patrolling, traffic control, and the care and custody of persons and property.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas both in writing and verbally.
Proficient in using security-related software, fire suppression systems, and CCTV systems.
Physical ability to perform considerable walking and climb stairs to patrol campus buildings, grounds, and conduct inspections.
Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements/Demands:
A workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines and time pressures; work regularly requires sustained concentration. Standing for sustained periods of time, bending, stretching, walking up and down stairs (building has 6 floors), around a hilly campus as needed, may also require walking between floors or between buildings at a moment’s notice. May need to lift/move boxes up to 25 pounds and move or rearrange furniture.
Work Environment:
We are a boarding school located on a 127-acre campus. The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor spaces, mostly inside the classroom or educational environment. May include work within the residential setting. The building has 6 floors accessible by staircases and elevators.
