Compensation: $81,620 - $113,300 depending on years of experience and licensure

Job Summary: The licensed speech and language pathologist will provide expertise in speech and language and related services, serving as an integral part of our clinical team. They will conduct assessments, consult, and counsel, as well as design and develop treatment plans and interventions that meet the individualized needs of students. They will maintain key relationships and collaborate as needed and required with students, their families and all levels of staff at the Shrub Oak International School to ensure that the individualized needs of each student are met. Having access to confidential information, discretion and independent judgment is required.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:15am-4:15pm
As an exempt role, there may be additional work required outside these hours as dictated by the needs of our students and/or the program.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Deliver individualized speech and language services within a transdisciplinary model.
Use creative, student-centered treatment approaches tailored to individual needs.
Monitor progress and adjust treatments based on clinical observations and data.
Conduct comprehensive evaluations and re-evaluations of speech and language skills.
Collaborate with clinicians, educators, and student life teams to integrate communication skills across all areas of a student’s day and ITEP.
Communicate proactively with students, families, and caregivers regarding progress and development.
Maintain required records and reports.
Engage in professional development to stay current with clinical advancements and intervention strategies.
Support other Shrub Oak programs, events, and services as needed.
Requirements Experience & Education
NY State SLP license in good standing and TSSLD certification.
Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience required; experience with developmental disabilities or autism in a school setting preferred.
Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication systems (AAC).

Physical Requirements/Demands: A workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines and time pressures; work regularly requires sustained concentration. Sitting at a desk, walking up and down stairs (building has 6 floors), around a hilly campus as needed, may also require walking between floors or between buildings at a moment’s notice. Crisis intervention and support required as needed.

Work Environment: We are a boarding school located on a 127-acre campus. The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor spaces, mostly inside the classroom or educational environment. May include work within the residential setting. The building has 6 floors accessible by staircases and elevators.
