Electrician Assistant

Essential Functions: 

The Electrician Assistant will support the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures within our buildings. This role will work under the direct supervision and guidance of a licensed electrician. 

  • Assist in the installation and repair of electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures throughout the building. 

  • Help install conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables. 

  • Ensure all piping installations comply with electrical codes and regulations. 

  • Assist in installing circuit breakers and other electrical hardware, and connect wiring, as necessary. 

  • Replace conduit and wiring as directed. 

  • Replace circuit breakers as instructed. 

  • Perform other related duties assigned by the licensed electrician.

Requirements: 

Experience & Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical diagrams. 

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and installations. 

  • Proficient in using hand tools and power tools related to electrical work. 

  • Adhere to all health and safety requirements and regulations. 

  • Willingness to work overtime as required to meet project needs. 

  • Workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines, and time pressures. Ability to maintain sustained concentration, considerable physical effort, and manual dexterity. 

  • Sufficient vision (with correction) to read and observe more distant objects. 

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions. 

  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs., use tools effectively, and work with cleaning solutions. 

  • Requires walking, standing, climbing, reaching overhead, and bending. 

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of additional electrical systems or specialized installations. 

  • Certification or formal training in electrical work. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues. 

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 

  • Exceptional written communication skills, including documentation, progress notes, incident reports, and other related administrative tasks. 

  • Exceptional verbal communication skills. 

  • Skilled in managing challenging behaviors and executing de-escalation techniques. 

  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills. 

  • Ability to display grit, resilience, and maintain composure under pressure. 

  • Strong ability to process and retain information and think critically and analytically during crises. 

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage competing priorities. 

  • Proven success in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment. 

  • Ability to get TCIS trained and complete/maintain all required training courses

Physical Requirements/Demands: 

A workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines, and time pressures; work regularly requires sustained concentration. Standing for sustained periods of time, bending, stretching, walking up and down stairs (building has 6 floors), around a hilly campus as needed, may also require walking between floors or between buildings at a moment’s notice. May need to lift/move boxes up to 25 pounds and move or rearrange furniture. 

Work Environment: 

We are a boarding school located on a 127-acre campus. The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor spaces, mostly inside the classroom or educational environment. May include work within the residential setting. The building has 6 floors accessible by staircases and elevators.
